Fort Altena and Fort Bakkerskil

In the southernmost part of the New Dutch Waterline, the forts of Altena and Bakkerskil are located at the intersection of the Biesbosch National Park and ‘the land of Heusden and Altena’.

Fort Altena

Fort Altena is conveniently located; right near exit 23 of the A27 motorway. It is an ideal starting point for walks and cycle tours through the Biesbosch and ‘the land of Heusden and Altena’. The coffee and especially Annie’s home made apple pie served at Brasserie Kazerne C is delicious.

Fort Bakkerskil

Fort Bakkerskil is a special location to spend the night, be it in luxury or in a basic manner. The tastefully decorated Bed & Breakfast is an ideal starting point for walks, cycle tours or car rides into the polder areas of Altena and the Biesbosch nature.
